At Trxstle, we've spent years designing, engineering, manufacturing and building rod carriers in Helena, Montana. Those features didn't happen by accident.
They came from questioning how rooftop fly rod carriers had traditionally been built.
A Better Fly Rod Carrier Didn't Need to Be Another Fixed Tube
The basic concept behind many rooftop rod carriers has changed surprisingly little over the years.
Put a long enclosure on a vehicle. Slide a fully assembled rod inside. Protect the reel at one end.
It works.
But we believed it could work a lot better.
When we developed the CRC System, adjustability became part of the carrier itself. Its patented telescopic construction allows the carrier to change length instead of permanently occupying the footprint of a traditional fixed-length carrier.
Depending on configuration, the CRC accommodates fully rigged fly rods up to 10'4" with the Standard Carrier and 11'6" with the Euro Carrier, while collapsing to a fraction of its extended length when that length isn't needed.

That means anglers can configure their carrier around different rod lengths, vehicles and mounting situations—and collapse it when it's time to store it.
But adjustability was only part of the problem we wanted to solve.
We also wanted to rethink what happens to expensive fishing equipment inside a rod carrier.
Protecting the Rod, Not Just Putting a Shell Around It
A fishing rod carrier should do more than keep rods off the seats of your vehicle.
It should protect them.
Trxstle developed a patented reels-up configuration that changes how rods, guides and reels are positioned during transportation.
Inside the CRC, our proprietary suspended soft-wall rod liners help isolate and protect the rod rather than simply surrounding it with a hard internal surface. At the other end, the reel is surrounded by dedicated padding designed around the equipment the carrier is actually transporting.
We've continued developing those systems over multiple generations of the CRC.
Some of the components and processes necessary to build them didn't exist in the way we needed them, so we developed our own manufacturing processes right here in Helena.
Today, our team manufactures a number of rod-carrier components in-house, performs light manufacturing and finishing operations, and builds and assembles every CRC and ARC System at our Helena, Montana facility. Inspection, processing and fulfillment happen here, too.

From the Best Fly Rod Carrier to a Rod Carrier for Nearly Every Angler
Eventually, we ran into another problem.
A great fly rod carrier is still a fly rod carrier.
Baitcasters are different.
Spinning reels are different.
Centerpin setups are different.
Long rear handles are different.
Large stripping guides, surf rods and two-handed setups introduce entirely different challenges.
Trying to squeeze all of that equipment into a carrier originally designed around traditional fly fishing wasn't the answer.
So we started over.
The result was the Trxstle ARC System — Adjustable Rod Carry.
Rather than adapting an existing fly rod carrier, the ARC was engineered from the ground up around the dimensions and requirements of conventional and fly fishing equipment.
It can carry 2–6 fully rigged rods and reels depending on the size and configuration of the equipment, with a telescopic platform that adjusts to approximately 10 feet.

That required a very different approach inside the carrier, too.
The ARC uses oversized protective rod liners, a large weather-protected reel compartment, adjustable rubber-lined dividers and an internal layout designed around vastly different rod and reel combinations.
The idea was simple:
Don't make the angler adapt to the rod carrier. Make the rod carrier adapt to the angler.
The ARC System at ICAST 2025
After more than three years of design, engineering and testing, we brought the ARC System to ICAST 2025, the largest fishing trade show of the year, and entered it into the show's New Product Showcase.
The ARC didn't win its category, and we're not going to pretend that it did.
What mattered to us was putting a completely different approach to vehicle-mounted fishing rod transportation in front of the broader fishing industry.
ICAST describes its New Product Showcase as a special section of the show floor designed to give visibility to the fishing industry's latest innovations across conventional and fly fishing gear, tackle, apparel and accessories.

We weren't only applying what we'd learned to fly rod carriers anymore. We were applying years of experience with adjustability, gear protection and vehicle-mounted rod transportation to virtually every style of fishing.
And people at ICAST took notice.
Flylords: Best New Fly Fishing Gear of ICAST 2025
Following the show, Flylords included the Trxstle ARC in its "ICAST 2025: The Best New Fly Fishing Gear of 2025."
Flylords explained that its team spent a week on the ICAST show floor searching through new fishing equipment to identify its selections for the best new fly-fishing gear of 2025 and 2026.
The ARC made the list.
Flylords specifically highlighted its compatibility with conventional and fly rods, 10-foot extended length, internal organizers and the Rod Keepers designed to manage longer rod configurations.

Its coverage highlighted something central to why we built the ARC in the first place: its ability to accommodate different styles of fishing rods in one adjustable rooftop carrier.
